Clouds clung to all the peaks while my friend and I hiked Stewart Falls yesterday. She said, "I'll bet angels are in those clouds." She was joking. But I think she was right.
It had rained most of the day Friday. The trunks of aspen trees were a shade of pale green I have never seen before and when I touched them they felt as though they had been soaked right through.
Smells were more pungent, everything was moist, colors were especially vivid against the contrast of dark soil and rocks. Usually gray aspen scars were black as coal. One felled tree trunk had a brilliant orange-fringed fungus growing from it.

Everything was heavy with post-rain morning dew.
Beautiful. Too beautiful for words.

I wish I had time to hike. I wish I had mountains to hike in.
